Strangers on a Train Gielgud Theatre review Telegraph. 30/06/1951 · Bruno Antony thinks he has the perfect plot to rid himself of his hated father, and when he meets tennis player Guy Haines on a train he thinks he's found the partner he needs to pull it off. His plan is relatively simple: Two strangers each agree to kill someone the other person wants gone. For example, Guy could kill his father and he could, Strangers on a Train comes from an under explored period in Alfred Hitchcock’s career. If there could have been any better way of catching Bruno I would have grabbed at it but instead we get a runaway carnival ride pinching our crisscrosser, and while it all works out for Guy it left with a disappointing conclusion.

Strangers on a Train (1951) was director Alfred Hitchcock's suspenseful, noirish black and white thriller about two train passengers: tennis pro Guy Haines (Farley Granger) and psychopathic dandy Now, in his latest effort, called "Strangers on a Train," which served to reopen the Strand Theatre last night under its new name, the Warner, Mr. Hitchcock again is tossing a crazy murder story

Both movies were directed by top drawer talent. In "Strangers on a Train" the outdoor scene in D.C. with well groomed Granger in a car and wacky Walker at the top of the steps is simply scintillating. The fact that Walker's mother in the movie is not in a nut house is simply a sin. A First-Class Hitchcock Murder-Mystery.
